Welcome from the Kirkcowan Community Development Trust

Kirkcowan Community Development Trust was established in June 2015 to manage Community Benefit Funds from three local wind farms:

Scottish Power Renewables Kilgallioch Windfarm, RES Glenchamber Wind Farm and Velocita Airies Wind Farm.

On this site you will get an idea of what we do and how you can get involved, and find out how to apply for funding.

Community Action Plan

The Kirkcowan Community Action Plan acts as a work plan for the way forward. Between November 2019 and March 2020, residents of the community of Kirkcowan were given the opportunity to have their say on what projects they would like to see developed in the short- to medium-term future.

Community Benefit Fund

The Council Boundary Area of Kirkcowan is in receipt of Community Benefit Funding due to its proximity to several large wind turbines in the local area.

Renewable energy suppliers are encouraged to give long-term Community Benefit Funding to communities that are in close proximity to wind turbines to allow for a positive relationship between suppliers and the community.
