Post Office and General Store Survey
The following are preliminary results from the survey distributed in October 2023.
Findings as of 29th November 2023:
- To date the Trust has received 67.25% of possible returns. It is assumed that this high response is due to the surveys being returned with the Winter Fuel applications.
- 4.1% of surveys were returned blank.

16.8% of responses stated they use the Post Office and General Store every day.
31% of responses stated they use the Post Office and General Store more than 3 times per week.
49.2% of responses stated they use the Post Office and General Store less than 3 times per week.
3% of responses stated they never use the Post Office and General Store.
Which of the services do you use?
Of the 32 responses (16.7%) that use the Post Office and General Store every day:
68.8% of these stated they use the Post Office and General Store for banking, letter/parcel services and groceries.
25% of these stated they use the Post Office and General Store for letter/parcel services and groceries.
3.1% of these stated they use the Post Office and General Store for groceries only.
3.1% of these stated they use the Post Office and General Store for letter/parcel services only.
Of the 59 responses (30.9%) that use the Post Office and General Store more than 3 times per week:
72.8% of these stated they use the Post Office and General Store for banking, letter/parcel services and groceries.

71.2% of the responses stated they use the Post Office and General Store to learn about local events and services.
28.8% of the responses stated they do not use the Post Office and General store to learn about local events and services. This includes the 6 responses that stated they never use the Post Office and General Store.

Of the 191 responses (67.25%):
92.2% of the responses did consider the Post Office and General Store to be a valuable asset to the community of Kirkcowan.
