The Kirkcowan Autumn Club held it’s Christmas lunch on the 13th of December. The members enjoyed an excellent meal provided by Caroline’s Catering. The event was made possible due to a grant from the Kirkcowan Community Development Trust
The Autumn Club holds many fabulous events throughout the year. In October, Cherie and Arran from Stranraer’s Fed Up café gave a talk to the Autumn Club members. The Fed Up café was set up in 2018, with the aid of local funding organisations and local business donations, to offer free food, drink and support services to those who need it.
The aim of the café is to help reduce social isolation, loneliness and poverty, while at the same time offering support and training to help people get back on track in getting a job or getting the help and support they need.
The club is open every Monday afternoon for the Craft Group and every Wednesday afternoon for a blether and a cuppa. Although primarily aimed at the over 60s, the club also welcomes younger members.
